Come to Me

45 “Anyone with such a defiling disease must wear torn clothes, let their hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of their face and cry out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ 46 As long as they have the disease they remain unclean. They must live alone; they must live outside the camp.
Leviticus 13:45-46
On Tuesday, we were introduced to the idea of spiritual hygiene. God is holy and his people are to be holy. Therefore, they need to recognise that touching being in contact with things that are unclean - requires a process of cleansing.
But what do all these commands mean for us? Well, remember, the law is a shadow of what was to come. Paul describes the law as like a teacher. It helps us understand the nature of sin. Being pregnant or having your period or a wet dream isn’t sin. But these things have connections to the curse of sin.
Which is what Jesus came to restore. It’s captured in all those times Jesus heals people with leprosy. Just as in Leviticus, God has provided a way for his unclean people to be made clean. For the defiled to become undefiled.
But because of Jesus, we don’t need to offer sacrifices at the temple or break our clay pots. We just need to come to Jesus to be made clean. He heals us from the sin that is our disease. He cleanses us from the sin that defiles us.
Which is why we don’t need to perform these rituals. We need to trust in Jesus.

Today:
- Do you see/feel that sin is like a disease?
- Are you thankful that Jesus has dealt with our sin problem?
- Do you see yourself as holy in Christ?
Pray:
- Praise the Father that He is gracious towards defiled sinners.
- Give thanks for Jesus who cleanses us from our sin.
- Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others turn to Jesus for spiritual cleansing.
