Spiritual Milk

2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

1 Peter 2:2-3

One of the realities of Church life is that you are around babies alot. And it’s wonderful. But I know from my own that when babies are hungry, they let you know about it. Hopefully you haven’t experienced that on an international flight or something like that.

Peter says we should be like newborn babies. Craving pure spiritual milk. Because that’s what is going to grow you up in your salvation. I think he’s talking about the Scriptures. It’s in the Scriptures that we taste the Lord’s goodness for the first time. It’s in the Scriptures that we will continue to grow up in our salvation.

So, that’s a challenge isn’t it? Do you crave the pure spiritual milk that is in the Bible? Do you crave knowing more of God’s goodness? Do you crave growing up in your salvation?

We live in a growth culture. The bookshops are filled with ways to improve yourself. Why? Because we think it makes us happier, stronger, live better lives and so on. And sometimes it does.

But what is the guaranteed way to live a more healthy, effective, good life? It’s by growing up in your salvation. Wouldn’t you like to be happier, stronger etc? Then crave pure spiritual milk. Need help with how to access it? Let me know, I’d love to help.

• Praise the Father that he is good and we can taste his goodness.
• Give thanks for Jesus Christ who shows us the goodness of golf.
• Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others crave the pure spiritual milk of the Scriptures.
