Memorisation Monday

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

1 Timothy 4:8

I really hate exercise. I’d rather not do it. I like being fit and feeling fit. But not the process. But I do some form of exercise four or five times a week. I get through it by reminding myself of the benefits.

Fleeing, turning from sin and pursuing godliness is very similar. Life is a marathon. Not a sprint. And following Jesus faithfully hurts. It requires discipline. How do we keep going when it’s painful? Well, one way is to remember the benefits.

Memorise today and be reminded that pursuing godliness has even greater benefits than physical training.

Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
  • Say the passage out loud 10 times in a row.
  • Say it once before you go to sleep.
  • Say it once more when you wake up.

Pray: Praise the Father that He does not grow weary of doing good. Give thanks for Jesus who endured the pain of the cross and that He shares the prize with us. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others keep pursuing godliness.
