Kingdom Gifts
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:4-8
It’s the last week of our conversation around Spiritual Gifts. For some of us, it’s not something you have considered much. For others, it’s an aspect of following Jesus that you are familiar with and have sought to live out.
We have spoken of tongues, of prophecy and healings. And you may agree with me on whether they continue or not or disagree with me (and that’s ok). But no matter where you land on some of these spiritual gifts - what we can be certain of is that we all have something given by God’s Spirit for the sake of the Church and the common good.
Whether your gift is administration or leadership. Hospitality or evangelism. Wisdom or generosity. You have been gifts for a purpose. It’s for the building up of the body - the Church.
So the question we must ask ourselves is, is that what I’m doing with my gift. The nature of the world is that people everywhere are using what God has given them for themselves. To build their own kingdoms. Or even to tear down the kingdom of God. What a terrible thing.
It must not be so with us. How are you using the gifts God has given you? How is it growing the Kingdom of God and the Church?
And as you do use those gifts. Use them cheerfully, knowing that they are benefitting God’s people and the world.
For Today:
Pray: Praise the Father that He is the Father who gives gifts to His children. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who gave the greatest gift of His whole self. Ask God to help you and others identify and use the gifts He has given to grow His Church.

For Today:
- What gifts do you think God has given you?
- How are you using those gifts for the benefit of the Church?
- How could you even better use those gifts?
Pray: Praise the Father that He is the Father who gives gifts to His children. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who gave the greatest gift of His whole self. Ask God to help you and others identify and use the gifts He has given to grow His Church.
