TGIF
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Tomorrow is election day for NSW.

Most Christians find voting in Australia to be terribly difficult. I had a phone call from a polling agency asking questions about how I think/feel about the different parties and candidates. As I answered, it became more and more clear to me that I found none of the major parties satisfactory in representing my beliefs on what is best for NSW.
However, in the midst of the frustration and sadly, cynicism that plagues me around election time, I’m reminded of how good it is to live where we do. I’m thankful for our government. I’m thankful for government. I don’t love democracy but the alternatives are much worse.
I’m thankful that we still live in a country where we can relatively freely preach the gospel and live it out. I’m praying that God would restrain the forces that would try to change that as we head to this election.
For Today:
Pray: Praise the Father that He governs the world with truth and justice. Give thanks for Jesus Christ that He is the true King and ruler. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help those elected to be faithful, just, wise and good in their position of power.

- Are you thankful for the government in Australia?
- How are you going at using the freedom we have to tell people about Jesus?
- Give thanks for our government and candidates today.
