S.O.S.
My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
John 17:15-17
It’s hard to know the truth these days. Fake news. AI chatbots. Algorithms that reflect our own biases and even those of the coder. Pair that with sinful human psychology that prefers lies to the truth when the truth becomes inconvenient.
Sometimes searching for the truth feels like wading through thick swamp in the dark.
But as Jesus reminds us. There is truth to be found.
As the Psalmist says, God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet. It is the light for our path in the darkness. As Jesus says, it is His Word that sanctifies us by its truth. That is, it cleans us from the muck of the many forms of fake news in the world.
So the question is, as you wade through the swamp in the darkness. Are you turning on the light? Are you being washed by the Word’s truth?
One reason why Sunday’s matter is because that’s where we encounter God’s Word. Where the Word is explained and taught but also preached to us that we might walk into our week with eyes a little bit clearer.
For Today:
Pray: Praise the Father that His Word is the Word of truth. Give thanks for Jesus who is the Word of God. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others find truth in His Words.

For Today:
- Do you feel like it’s harder to know the truth of things today?
- Have you experienced the Scriptures bringing clarity?
- How could you be sanctified by the truth today and this week?
Pray: Praise the Father that His Word is the Word of truth. Give thanks for Jesus who is the Word of God. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others find truth in His Words.
