True Goodness
Waw
May your unfailing love come to me, Lord,
your salvation, according to your promise;
then I can answer anyone who taunts me,
for I trust in your word.
Never take your word of truth from my mouth,
for I have put my hope in your laws.
I will always obey your law,
for ever and ever.
I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought out your precepts.
I will speak of your statutes before kings
and will not be put to shame,
for I delight in your commands
because I love them.
I reach out for your commands, which I love,
that I may meditate on your decrees.
Psalm 119:41-48
The more I know God and His ways, the more I am in awe of how good He is. I mean just take the time to reflect on this. Compare what the world says is good compared to what God does.
The evidence is coming through all the time. We want autonomy. But where has it gotten us? Ultimate freedom has led to anxiety and paralysis. The pursuit of sexual pleasure has brought us emotional and relational pain. The acceptance of every truth has left us confused, cynical and unsure of anything.
God’s ways are better. They give us a path to follow, lit up by the Scriptures. He gives us a way to enjoy this world without falling into harm's way. He is the God of truth who gives us a framework for understanding life and history and its colour is hope.
God’s ways are better. Do you see that they are?
For Today:
Pray: Praise the Father for His goodness and His good towards us. Give thanks for Jesus who makes the way for us to live a truly flourishing life. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others see that God’s ways are better.
