Day 7 - 14 Days of Prayer

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Hebrews 10:19-25

We are praying to see 250 people at Village Church by 2030 who grow, gather, give and go, in love and joy to the glory of God.

The gathering of God’s people has never been so under threat as it is today. Across Australia, Churches are recording significant drops in member attendance and regularity. How big a deal is this?

Well, it’s worth remembering what we have been saved to and for. We are God’s temple. We have been gathered to Christ to be His people and the household of God. We are united in Him and we share in His salvation, His Spirit and God’s love.

Additionally, God has given us to each other to help us to stand firm in Him. In the time we live as we wait for our future hope to be fully realised, we need the Church for its gifts and fellowship. We need to be taught by pastors/teachers, we need to be encouraged by fellow brothers and sisters, we need to serve and be served for the sake of being built up in Christ.

We are the Church and we need the Church. Let’s pray that we would deeply value gathering as His people on a Sunday and at other times for His sake and ours.

For Today:
  • Do you find it hard to gather with God’s people? How/why?
  • How can you prioritise Sunday gatherings more?
  • Pray that Village would be a Church that joyfully and lovingly gathers.

Pray:
Pray through Hebrews 10:19-25. Pray that we would be a Church that joyfully and lovingly gathers to God’s glory. Pray for those who find it hard to gather with His people due to grief or hurt. Pray for those who struggle to prioritise the Sunday Gathering. Pray that God would draw other people to us who are currently ‘homeless Christians’.
