Day 8 - 14 Days of Prayer

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:1-2

We are praying to see 250 people at Village Church by 2030 who grow, gather, give and go, in love and joy to the glory of God.

The pattern of this world is that our life is our own. Do with it what you will. Your body is your own. Do to it and with it whatever pleases you.

But God gave us His one and only Son. Jesus did not count His life as His own, to do with as He pleased. Instead, He rejected the pleasures of this world and even the pleasures of heaven for the sake of suffering for the salvation of sinners.

Therefore, in view of God’s great mercy to you. See your life as not your own but as an offering to Christ who died for you. This is proper worship. Don’t be like Cain who just gave a token of his produce. Don’t be like Ananias and Sapphira who held something back.

But of course. This is hard. Incredibly hard. Swimming against the tide is never easy. Sailing against the wind requires strength and power. Let’s pray that God would give us what we need to give Him what we should.

For Today:
  • How are you going at living for Jesus?
  • What is one thing you need to give to Jesus today?
  • Ask God for the strength to live for Him

Pray:
Pray through Romans 12:1-2. Pray that we would be a Church that joyfully and lovingly gives to God’s glory. Pray that God would help you to be a living sacrifice for Him. Pray that God would grow our generosity as a Church in our time, money and energy. Pray that He would strengthen us to do the things we don’t want to do.
