Memorisation Monday
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
Philippians 2:5-7
We are memorising Philippians 2:5-11. It’s an incredibly important passage of Scripture. Thought to be one of the earliest pieces of oral history, this articulation of the gospel is rich in theological gold.
Verse 7 is a powerful reminder of the generosity of Christ. He didn’t sit comfortably in heaven while people on earth perished. Instead he came into human likeness to serve us.
Just reflect on that a bit more. Right now, my body is in pain (self-inflicted from playing soccer). Over the course of His three year ministry, Jesus walked over 5000 kms. Melbourne to Darwin is just over 3000. He most likely did it in basic sandals.
Consider what Jesus went through today and be amazed that He did it to serve you.
Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
Pray:
Praise the Father that He was willing to send the Son. Give thanks for Jesus who served us with His life and death. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others reflect on Jesus’ humility and follow it.

Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
- Say the passage out loud 10 times in a row.
- Say it once before you go to sleep.
- Say it once more when you wake up.
