With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.

To be honest, I have a funny relationship with singing praises to God. It’s tricky right. Sometimes it’s the songs. Sometimes it’s the people playing the songs. Most of the time - it’s just me and my own lack of engagement.

But there are days when singing breaks through my crusty heart. Usually it’s when I’m gathered with God’s people and we have just heard a sermon that breaks through that crusty heart with the living water of Christ and the song just allows us to let that feeling overflow into thanksgiving.

Praise the Father that He is worthy of our thanks. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who gave life and hope to sinners. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others respond to God in thanksgiving and praise.
