Memorisation Monday
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
Philippians 2:5-9
We are memorising Philippians 2:5-11. It’s an incredibly important passage of Scripture. Thought to be one of the earliest pieces of oral history, this articulation of the gospel is rich in theological gold.
There are some significant names in history. Alexander, Julius Caesar, Charlemagne, Suileman, Churchill (sorry, I’m aware they are all men). Philippians 2:9 reminds us that of all the names in history - one stands out. It is that of Jesus Christ.
Jesus is God. He is the one through whom all things were created. He is the one who was humbly born into human flesh. He lived a perfect life. He forgave His murderers. He endured the cross. He conquered death. He defeated Satan. He made a way for people to be with God forever.
He is glorious and His name is the greatest name. And the Father is making sure that all will know the name of Jesus.
Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
Pray:
Praise the Father that He raised His Son to the throne. Give thanks for Jesus Christ whose name is above all names. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others glorify the name Jesus Christ.
