For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving.
1 Timothy 4:4
How good is food? I’m a big fan of sci-fi shows and one of the saddest of the potential futures is that food is essentially nutritious mush. Neverending white porridge like mush.
But that’s not what God has done. He has given us taste buds. Sweet, savoury, sour, bitter (not my favourite) and umami. He has given us foods that produce flavours on their own and that can be combined to create even more interesting tastes.
He has given us a world that can produce an abundance of food and what a great sadness that we don’t share that food around better.
But for today. Let’s give thanks for the food God has provided to you. Whether it is wheatbix or caviar, ribs or raisins. Let’s give thanks for it.
For Today:
Pray:
Praise the Father for His grace and kindness in creation. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who gives us the bread of life and living water. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others be thankful for food.

- What’s one food you are very thankful for!
- Do you give thanks at every meal? Should you?
