Memorisation Monday
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
Philippians 2:5-10
We are memorising Philippians 2:5-11. It’s an incredibly important passage of Scripture. Thought to be one of the earliest pieces of oral history, this articulation of the gospel is rich in theological gold.
Almost there people! If you haven’t been memorising from the start - it’s never too late! There is only one appropriate response to the humiliation and exultation of Christ and that is for all creatures in heaven and on earth (and under the earth) to bow the knee.
Even the demons knew they had to submit to Jesus and yet so many humans think they can ignore or reject Him. But they deceive themselves. One day, all will see Him for who He truly is. We pray that they won’t wait until then.
But what does it look like for Christians to bow the knee to Jesus today? Well, what could be better than writing His word on your heart and mind through memorisation?
Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
Pray:
Praise the Father that He is glorious and gives His Son the most glorious name. Give thanks for Jesus who has earned His great name and is worthy of our faithful service. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others bow the knee to Jesus today and every day.
