Memorisation Monday

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11

We are memorising Philippians 2:5-11. It’s an incredibly important passage of Scripture. Thought to be one of the earliest pieces of oral history, this articulation of the gospel is rich in theological gold.

Last verse!

In the Beginning, God’s purpose was to fill the whole world with His glory. With tongues that sing His praises and acknowledge His greatness and majesty, in joy. And through Jesus Christ, this purpose will finally be realised.

One day, every tongue will confess that He is Lord. Some in everlasting joy. Others in everlasting shame. But God will be glorified by everyone. Keep praying for those you love and people in our community would declare Him Lord before it’s too late.

Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
  • Say the passage out loud 10 times in a row.
  • Say it once before you go to sleep.
  • Say it once more when you wake up.

Pray:
Praise the Father that He is glorious. Give thanks for Jesus who we declare to be Jesus Christ our Lord in joy. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others give the praise His name deserves now and forever.
