S.O.S.

Taste and see that the Lord is good;
    blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
    for those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Psalm 34:8-10

For thousands of years, God’s people have chosen Sunday as a day to taste and see that the Lord is good. Personally, I don’t believe in the ‘Lord’s day’ - you can gather as God’s church any day really. But Sunday is as good as any day and better than most (I think that makes sense).

Culturally speaking, Sunday’s a day to taste and see that life is good. It’s a day for friends and fun. Or, more and more, it’s become just another day for people who work from home or work on Sundays.

But for us. Sunday’s are a day to protect. Because those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Sunday’s are a day to put God first by prioritising the gathering of His people, the hearing of the Scriptures read and taught, and the serving of the saints.

On Sunday’s, let’s taste and see not that life is Good. But that the Lord, and life with the Lord, is good.

For Today:
  • Do you love engaging with God on a Sunday at Village? Why or why not?
  • How could you taste & see that the Lord is good today?
  • How are you going at prioritising Sunday Gatherings?

Pray:
Praise the Father that He is good and that we can know His goodness. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who shows us the goodness of God. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others taste and see that God is good, particularly on a Sunday.
