TGIF

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Colossians 3:16

One of the great experiences in life is to watch an English Premier League game live in the stadium. The football is good but it’s the atmosphere that makes it great. And the atmosphere is all about the songs. As the crowd responds to what the team is doing - they sing.

They sing songs that remind them of who they are. Songs that remind them of where they stand. Songs that remind them of their great players. Songs that remind them of their hope. Sound familiar?

Why do you sing (if you do) church songs? Colossians reminds us of why we should sing. We sing to ‘teach and admonish one another’ - reminding each other of the message of Christ, of our greatest moment in history that defines who we are and where we are going. And we sing to God because of the gratitude in our hearts.

For Today:
  • Why do you sing?
  • What song has been particularly meaningful lately?
  • Give thanks for the gift of song.

Pray:
Praise the Father that He is the giver of music. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who gives us the reasons to sing. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others sing to God and each other.
