Memorisation Monday

As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

Ephesians 2:1-3

I need a constant reminder that I was dead in my sins. Incapable of saving myself. Following the course of this world. Under the wrath of God. The problem is, when I don’t remember. I begin to imagine that I am deserving of grace. That I have found my way to God. I begin to congratulate myself and forget to praise Him.

We need to be reminded that we aren’t entitled to God’s blessing. For then it wouldn’t be grace at all - simply what we had earned. We need to be reminded that we weren’t any more intelligent or wise than anyone else. We were all deserving of wrath.

When we see this - then we begin to understand the incredible grace of God to us.
How desperately we need to remember these truths. That is why we memorise.

Questions/Thoughts/Tips:
  • Say the passage out loud 10 times in a row.
  • Say it once before you go to sleep.
  • Say it once more when you wake up.

Pray:
Praise the Father that He shows grace to sinners. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who saves us into a better Kingdom with a better King. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others see what we have been saved from.
