Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6:19-20
We had a family friend growing up. He was a successful businessman. He had just built a really big house in Austinmer. He had a bunch of money. Enough to kind of do whatever he wanted. Within the space of a year, he was missing and all the money was gone.
One of the realities of this world. Is that our money and the things we can buy with it are inherently unstable. I was looking at buying a house once. The family who were selling had put a lot of hope in the money. We got a termite inspection and lucky we did. It was riddled. The property halved in value.
But we continue to invest in the hope of these treasurers. In houses. In money. In the fun that money can buy. But Christian, don’t be fooled. These things can be enjoyable, can bring comfort, can bring some form of satisfaction. But only for a moment.
Whereas there is another form of treasure that will last forever. It’s good fruit. It’s the salvation of others. It’s faith. Invest in these things and the Kingdom of God and you won’t just enjoy them for a moment - but for eternity.
For Today:
Pray:
Praise the Father that He has given us a Kingdom that will never fade or spoil. Give thanks for Jesus who invested in His people. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others invest in His Kingdom.
