S.O.S.

With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: “He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.” And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.

Ezra 3:11

What a privilege it is to be loved. I want you to think of someone who loves you. Go on, just picture them for a minute. Hear them say, I love you. See their loving acts toward you. It’s a wonderful thing to be loved.

Maybe that was a hard exercise for you?
If you trust in Jesus, one thing you can always be sure of is that God loves you.

In Ezra 3, Israel is celebrating. They have been in exile for 70 years. Scattered. Suffering. Lost. But now that time is over, God has rescued them out of exile in Babylon and gathered them back to Jerusalem where they lay a new foundation for God’s temple. This is why they give thanks.

As they stand there looking around. Looking at the temple's foundations. Looking around at each other. What do they see? Well, what do they say? He is good, His love toward Israel endures forever.

This Sunday. As you look around at what Paul calls in Ephesians the new temple that God is building - the Church. With Christ as its foundation. As you remember that He has gathered us out of the Kingdom of darkness and into His Kingdom of light. See His love to you and to His people and give Him praise.

For Today:
  • Do you know that God loves you? How can you know?
  • How could you be reminded of God’s love?
  • Remind someone else of God’s love today. Send them a text or when if you catch up.

Pray:
Praise the Father that He loves His people and His love endures forever. Give thanks that you can know God’s love through and in Jesus Christ. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others see God’s love.
