Ephesians Day 1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:1-2
What is the best thing anyone has ever said to you? You got the job? Yes (I’ll marry you)? I love you? Mummy? Daddy? There are some words in life that are more powerful than others. Sometimes because of the words. Most of the time because of who is speaking them.
I want to suggest that these words, grace and peace to you, are in fact the greatest words you could ever hear because of what they mean and who they come from.
We are born into a war we can never win. Rebels against a rightful King, our trajectory is inevitable justice in eternal punishment. That’s what God says to rebels. Justice and punishment.
But for those who trust in Jesus, God speaks a very different word. He says, grace and peace to you. That’s what Paul’s passing on. He’s speaking on behalf of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. And that’s His Word. Grace and peace to you.
Just sit in it for a moment. No longer at war with God. Shown kindness by the King. At peace and in fact, on His side. On a new trajectory that is eternal life.
These are the most powerful words. Greater than ‘I love you’ or ‘yes’ or ‘you got the job’. Because these words don’t just change your life - they change your eternity. See that today and find rest and joy in these words.
For Today:
Pray:
Praise the Father for His grace that He offers peace to sinners. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who is the King who offers reconciliation through His sacrifice. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others trust and rejoice in His Words.

For Today:
- Do you see the significance of these words?
- How do they shape your life?
- How could you respond to God’s grace and peace
