Ephesians Day 13

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:11-14

You may have heard already but I love a movie score. Last of the Mohicans is the favourite, Star Wars & The Mission are up there too. It’s the story of the movie, but the music that adds an extra dimension to the story.

So it is with history. The greatest drama ever lived or told. It has layers. A music score behind it all. And it’s there, throughout Ephesians 1. Did you see it? It’s like a drum-beat. To the praise of His glorious grace. To the praise of His glory.

This is the beat of God’s creation. It’s all been for and to the praise of His glory.

When He forgives Adam & Eve, to the praise of His glorious grace. When He shows mercy and redeems Israel in the Exodus… As He promises grace to sinful and rebellious people. Over and over again. Ultimately, when He sends the Son to save His people and raises Him from the dead. To the praise of His glorious grace.

This is a tune we will be humming for eternity.

For Today:
  • Why do you think God is glorious?
  • What has God done for you that you could give Him glory for today?
  • Give Him praise today in word, song and deed.

Pray:
Praise the Father that He is glorious and His grace towards us is glorious. Give thanks for Jesus Christ who is the radiance of God’s glory. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others see God’s glory and give Him the praise He deserves.
