A Wise Life
Prudence is a fountain of life to the prudent, but folly brings punishment to fools.
Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool bent on folly.
Proverbs 16:22 & Proverbs 17:12
I was reflecting on wisdom this morning. I was thinking back to my old life before I truly committed my life to Christ. I drank too much. I didn’t care about my words. I spent money without thinking.
At the time. I thought that life was fun. Really fun. I wasn’t unhappy with my life. But looking back now, I was a fool.
It’s funny how you can’t see what’s happening in your bubble until you are out of it. Wisdom seemed boring to me. Self-control - not fun. Discipline - hard. And there is a shred of truth there. Discipline and self-control can be hard.
But can I testify to you the truth of these Proverbs. Life is better. My weekends are better. Hangovers and feeling sick all weekend aren’t worth it. Relationships are better because I care more about my words and the good/harm they can do. These are just two examples.
I could talk about confusion about purpose, identity, hope and so much more.
Wisdom is better. If only we would see it.
For Today:
Pray:
Praise the Father that He offers us wisdom.
Give thanks for Jesus who shows us a wise life.
Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others rejoice in the wisdom of God today.
