Advent - Day 16
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Let Israel say:
“His love endures forever.”
Let the house of Aaron say:
“His love endures forever.”
Let those who fear the Lord say:
“His love endures forever.”
The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.
The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.
Psalm 118:1-2 & 22-24
Full Readings: Psalm 118, 1 John 3:16
When marriages break down one of the lines that is often used is that we just fell out of love or that we just stopped loving one another.
The reality of life is that love is hard work. Loving people for a long time is even harder work. And, some people are harder to love than others!
Have you ever thought about how hard to love you might be? How hard it might be for another human to love you? Maybe you are just the most loveable human being that has ever walked the planet. But to a Holy God, we are all hard to love.
And yet, His is a love that endures forever. His love is so great that it endures our sinfulness. His love endures our selfishness. His love is so great, that even when we reject it, in the person of His Son, He continues to show love.
You might be the most unlovable person on the planet. But if God has chosen to show you His love, if you fear the Lord, then His love toward you will endure forever. Rejoice in that today.
For Today:
Pray:
his love endures forever.
