Advent - Day 25
Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
After he has suffered,
he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
Isaiah 53:10-12

I’ve finally lost faith in the BoM (Bureau of Meteorology). No, not because of that weird name change thing that happened. But because they can’t seem to get the weather right. To be fair, making predictions about anything is pretty difficult. Weather or economy, we just don’t know.
But that’s what makes Isaiah 53 so remarkable.
There are times when Old Testament prophecy seems so veiled as to warrant the label of clear as mud. But then there are passages like this one.
What it tells us is that God knows the future. He isn’t the BoM, relying on a model. He isn’t tracking past trends and making predictions. He knows. And He knows because He is doing it.
This gives us confidence. We can be more certain that everything God said would happen, will happen than we can be about the weather tomorrow. Jesus came in flesh, was crushed for our sins, was raised from the dead and now many believe in His name.
So what can we be certain of? What does the incarnation, the death and resurrection of Christ give us confidence in?
We can be certain of salvation.
Of resurrection.
And that He will certainly come again.
For Today:
Pray:

For Today:
- Do you trust the BoM (or whatever it’s called now)?
- Do you trust God’s promises? What does that change in your life?
- Reflect on God’s promise of Christ’s return.
Pray:
- Praise the Father that He is faithful and trustworthy.
- Give thanks for Jesus who trusts His Father and is the promised Messiah.
- Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others trust His promises.
