Psalm 145:1-3 (part 2)

I will exalt you, my God the King;
I will praise your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will praise you
and extol your name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.
Psalm 145:1-3

Between Christmas and New Year, we will take a break from normal programming and spend the week in Psalm 145.

I want to continue to reflect on these few verses. The Psalmist says, every day I will praise you. I wonder… How many of us praise the Lord on a Sunday (or every second Sunday) and maybe on a Tuesday night (or every third Tuesday night). But neglect to give Him praise daily.

What about you? Is praising God a part of the daily rhythm of your life? Do you see that it should be? Surely who He is and what He has done in Christ warrants at the very least a few minutes per day to acknowledge Him?

So how could you? What might that look like? Here is early New Years resolutions territory. What if you committed to daily giving five minutes to reflect on why God is worthy of praise and to respond in praise. 5 minutes.

On your way to work?
Before you get out of bed?
After you go to bed?
In your lunch break?
During your morning walk?

The opportunities are there. Let’s do it!

Pray:
  • Praise God for His goodness, greatness and graciousness.
  • Give thanks for the bodies He gave us that can give Him praise.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others praise Him daily.
