New Year Resolutions
10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
15 All of us, then, who are mature should take such a view of things.
Philippians 3:10-15
Well. It’s a New Year. And depending on a few factors (how draining/enjoyable your Christmas was), maybe you are feeling excited about the year ahead or maybe you just don’t want to think about it.
But a New Year is a good time to reflect, refresh, renew and pursue new habits and practices that will lead to a deeper faith, love and hope in Jesus. Paul, as he usually does, points us in this very direction. He reminds us that what we have in Jesus is like the Tour de France.
What we have received is the right to run/ride the race and enjoy the glory of being on Jesus’ team. But we haven’t finished. And here is the question. Are we going to be that teammate who gets dragged along by the rest. Or are we going to take the opportunity given to us?
Paul encourages us to press on. To push forward. To strive for the goal of winning the race with Jesus. This is what He saved you for!
Ok, hopefully you are a little bit motivated. But what does this look like? Well, over the next few weeks, on Tuesdays and Saturdays primarily, we’ll explore some possibilities. What could it look like to push on? How could we grow in 2024?
On your bike! Let’s ride.
For Today:
