Memorisation Monday

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:1-2

We’ll do this one over two weeks - so don’t stress if it looks daunting. Just do one verse. We live in a time of anxiety, often due to purposelessness. To figure out the purpose of our own life is to attempt to decide from a menu of unlimited options. It’s crippling!

To know God’s will is to know what He desires of us and how best we can live that out. And contrary to popular cultural opinion. God’s will for us is good, pleasing and perfect. Lives lived according to His will are better than according to anyone else's, it’s more pleasing (to Him and to us) because they flow with our design.

Let’s memorise Romans 12:1-2 to be reminded that this is the great benefit of the renewed mind - that we might see more clearly God’s will, and enjoy life more purposefully and meaningfully.

Tips:
  • Write down the passage
  • Say it out loud 10 times
  • Say it once at night before you go to sleep

Pray:
  • Praise the Father for revealing His will through the Scriptures and the Son.
  • Give thanks for Jesus Christ, who shows us what it looks like to live according to God’s will.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others test and approve of God’s will, joyfully living it out.
