S.O.S.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:16

The Christian life comes with many costs that we are quick to count. Yet, the privileges far outweigh the costs (if only we would see them). Prayer is a great example of this.

Most of us really like the idea of having people in our life that we can call on. It’s nice to know that I can call a police officer, a government official or a wealthy friend if I was really in need. Christian, we have access to the one who created the universe.

He listens to our prayers. He acts on our prayers. Consider that for a moment. The God of the universe. He is in your corner. As James says, the prayer of the righteous person is powerful and effective.

Remember this as you consider the privilege of prayer. You have access because Jesus Christ made you righteous through His death and resurrection. He bought you the privilege. So let’s use it every chance we get.

For Today:
  • Do you see prayer as a privilege?
  • How could you pray more often?
  • Commit to praying for one person as we gather together today.

Pray:
  • Praise the Father that He is the Almighty God who graciously listens to our prayers.
  • Give thanks for Christ who buys us the right to pray through His blood.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others see the privilege of prayer and use it for your good and His glory.
