Memorisation Monday

Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”

Mark 4:8

The past decade has seen some incredible challenges for farming in Australia. If it isn’t drought, then it’s floods. Modern farming has many technological advances to help it overcome some of these challenges and yet still there is a struggle. Imagine 2000 years ago. How hard it was to produce a crop. It’s called subsistence farming for a reason.

Jesus says that the good seed of the Word of God, planted in good soil can produce a crop of thirty, sixty or a hundred times. It’s a number that would cause Jesus’ original audience to not just raise an eyebrow but scoff in laughter. It’s meant to be a crazy number. An unthinkable number. A harvest that would make a Jewish farmer's eyes pop.

I want us to memorise this passage because it’s a reminder of what God says His Word can do in us.

Tips:
  • Write down the passage
  • Say it out loud 10 times
  • Say it once at night before you go to sleep

Pray:
  • Praise God, the Father that He is a powerful God who can produce good fruit from even the hardest of soils.
  • Give thanks for Jesus, the living Word who is sown into our hearts through the good news of the gospel.
  • Ask God to grow you and others, producing good fruit in abundance.
