Memorisation Monday
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
Mark 8:34
At the heart of the Christian life is radical change. The casting off of the old self centred on what was right in our own eyes. At the same time we pick up the cross saying, not my will but yours be done.
To follow Jesus is no promise of worldly riches, of health, of wild experiences or adventures. Rather it is the promise of suffering while we find joy in the knowledge that we are loved by God, that we get to do the good works God prepared for us and in the certain hope of eternal life with God.
Memorise this passage today and be reminded of what it is to call ourselves Christian.
