Glorify Pt. 2

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

So, we read on Tuesday (and heard on Sunday) - that it’s right for God’s glory to be the purpose of our lives. But what does that actually look like? To use Paul’s words, what does it look like to eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God?

Well, let’s think about a couple of common places. Let’s think about work. What does it look like to work to the glory of God? Paul actually tells us in Colossians 3, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” So work hard. Don’t be lazy. Don’t be on Facebook all day or pretend to be working.

What about in romantic relationships? Paul says, “you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your bodies.” Don’t engage in sexual immorality. With another person. Or with your computer/TV through pornography.

What about money? In 2 Corinthians 9 Paul says that generosity leads to God’s praise and glory.

These are some of the big areas. But here’s the big thing. God has given us the task of figuring it out. He doesn’t give us a rule for every aspect of life. E.g. You can only buy takeaway once a week, twice a week isn’t glorifying to God. No. He gives us principles. Love God, love people. Make disciples. Faith is what pleases God etc. And then it’s our job to work it out.

So what does it look like for you this week? In what you eat/drink? In your relationships? In your work? In your rest? In what you watch? Or in what you say yes to and no to?

For Today:
  • What’s one thing you need to say no to this week to glorify God?
  • What’s one thing you need to say yes to?
  • What’s one area of your life you need to reflect on more as to how to glorify God?

Pray:
  • Praise the Father that He has revealed to us how to glorify Him in life.
  • Give thanks for Jesus who glorified His Father in all things.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others glorify Him in everything you do.
