Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.

Hebrews 13:7

It’s a tricky time to be a leader. High profile failures have (rightly) placed leaders under increased scrutiny. After all, leadership is power. Power to lead people toward evil or power to lead people toward good. Added to this is a lack of trust in authority and institution.

I want to give thanks today for leaders who lead people toward good. We get more excited by the failure stories. But Hebrews 13 encourages us to remember our leaders. Who faithfully passed on the word of God and lived a life of faith, following Jesus.

Hopefully, some names or faces are popping into your mind. I think of a man I still catch up with regularly who encourages me and reminds me of what it looks like to live a godly life in the midst of hard trials.

Remember faithful leaders today. Resist the temptation of cynicism and consider what it might look like for you to imitate their faith.

For Today:
  • Send a text (if you can) to someone who comes to mind.
  • Identify one aspect of their faith you would want to imitate.
  • Pray for the leadership team at your Church.

Pray:

  • Praise the Father that He is at work raising up faithful leaders who proclaim His Word and live it out faithfully.
  • Give thanks for Jesus Christ who shows us the way of true life and whose faith we all hope to imitate.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to raise up leaders of God’s Church who faithfully teach and live according to His Word.
