Grow Pt. 2
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-15
Having goals in life or a dream is a good thing - something to aim at. But without a strategy to get there, it’s more like a wish that you just hope someone else will make happen. God’s goal is for His Son to rule over all things including a mature people from all tribes and nations who trust Him in all things. That’s the goal, but what’s the strategy?
Here is it in Ephesians 4. It’s the Church. God has given gifts to His people. Firstly, in the Apostles & Prophets who God inspired to write the Scriptures and then through Pastor-Teachers & Evangelists who equip God’s people with the Scriptures to become mature believers. But this isn’t the end of the strategy - it’s only really the beginning.
The Church equipped with the Scriptures creates an environment of love where they speak the truth to one another in order to grow and be grown. Then we stand firm individually and as God’s Church as mature people who know the truth.
This is the strategy. But are we following it? Are you? Are we as a Church? That’s a good question to ask.
For Today:
