Wisdom Wednesday
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Over the next few Wednesdays, in keeping with our Wisdom Wednesday theme, I’m going to explore the idea of ‘Making Godly Decisions’. My experience is that many Christians desire to honour God with their lives but sometimes don’t know how.
They don’t know how to honour God in their decisions like:
This list could have been pages long. Apparently, we make around 70 conscious decisions per day. Some are trivial (what will I have for lunch). Others can change our life (who will I have lunch with).
God reminds us though in Proverbs 3 of the first principle of making decisions. Trust God which looks like trusting that God is God and a good God. Let’s expand on the obvious, why do these things matter?
Firstly, we need to begin with humility. To lean on the understanding of a human only - is to make poor decisions. Humans make decisions based on a range of emotional, intellectual, physical and social weaknesses. God doesn’t. He knows what is good, is immune to influence, tiredness or hormones. It would be wise to trust His Word.
Finally, we should submit to His wisdom because it is for us. God’s desire isn’t to harm us (if it was - He could and would). Instead, it’s to see us thrive through faith and in love and with hope.
For Today:
Pray:

They don’t know how to honour God in their decisions like:
- Where should I live?
- What should I do with my time & money?
- Who should I be friends with & prioritise?
- How much TV should I watch?
This list could have been pages long. Apparently, we make around 70 conscious decisions per day. Some are trivial (what will I have for lunch). Others can change our life (who will I have lunch with).

For Today:
- Do you consider God’s will before you make decisions?
- What’s one decision where you didn’t trust God? How did it turn out?
- How could you trust God with a decision you need to make?
Pray:
- Praise the Father that He lights our path with His Word.
- Give thanks for Jesus who shows us what good decisions look like.
- Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others trust in Him and make good, godly decisions.
