Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 1:15-17
When I look back at my life I’m overwhelmed by God’s patience with me. I may not be the worst of sinners (neither was Paul) but I’ve done my fair share. And sadly, I am still prone to many of them.
I think about the love of money. I know money can’t make me happy. But I just keep thinking it might. Or my sense of self-sufficiency that if I just work harder, smarter, everything will turn out ok.
Thank God for His patience toward me. Thank God for His patience toward you. Thank God for His patience toward humanity because if I was God, let’s just say there would be no such thing as a rainbow. But thankfully, God is patient with us, not wanting anyone to perish.
