Wisdom Wednesday
Plans fail for lack of counsel,
but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 5:23
Over the past/next few Wednesdays, in keeping with our Wisdom Wednesday theme, I’m going to explore the idea of ‘Making Godly Decisions’.
One of my greatest weaknesses is that I’m a bit of a lone ranger. I’m not very good at asking for help or advice. Which would be fine if I knew everything (obviously I don’t). To be honest, I think we all think we know more than we do.
Thankfully, I’ve been convinced (however grudgingly) that seeking advice is a good thing. That conviction has been grown by the faithfulness of a few brothers and sisters who I trust to give good counsel. It actually works.
So here is the question. Do you have godly men and women who you turn to for counsel? Do you have more than one or two? Do you actually engage them when it comes to decision making or do you just go to them for validation after you have already made a decision.
This is a big one. It’s something to be really careful about. If you are anything like me, once I’ve made a decision, it's hard to change my mind. Therefore it’s important that I don’t make a decision until I speak to my people.
If you don’t have anyone you can turn to. Wise, godly people. Find some! I started out by just asking one of these guys if I could meet up regularly, once a month, to talk about life and decisions. Do you need to ask someone to do that with you? Could you be this person for someone else?
For Today:
Pray:
but with many advisers they succeed.

For Today:
- Who do you turn to for wise counsel?
- Do you look for wisdom or for validation?
- Do you need to find someone you can trust?
Pray:
- Praise the Father that He is the fount of wisdom and gives us each other to build us up.
- Give thanks for Jesus who gives us His wisdom and sent us the counsellor - the Holy Spirit.
- Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others share wisdom and wise counsel to His glory.
