Shouts of joy and victory
    resound in the tents of the righteous:

“The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!
The Lord’s right hand is lifted high;
    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
I will not die but live,
    and will proclaim what the Lord has done.
The Lord has chastened me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.
Open for me the gates of the righteous;
    I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord
    through which the righteous may enter.
I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
    you have become my salvation.

Psalm 118:15-21

Have you ever had your prayers answered? You know, as I think back on it, I struggle to remember whether God has. This is less a reflection on God’s faithfulness than mine. The big problem isn’t my lack of prayer (though in the past this was the issue), it’s my lack of reflection.

I really don’t go back and think about the ways that God has answered my prayers. And that’s a problem because it means that I don’t give God the glory He deserves and neither do I grow in confidence in His faithfulness to faithful prayer.

So today, I want to do something about that. I'm going to spend time considering my prayers and giving thanks to God for the answers to my prayers. And if nothing else, giving thanks for the answer to my deepest prayer, that He would save me from my sins and help me to trust Him more.

For Today:
  • Have you had a prayer answered?
  • How could you reflect on God’s answers to your prayers?
  • Give thanks today for answered prayer and for the answer to your deepest prayer in Christ.

Pray:
  • Praise the Father that He is faithful and hears the prayers of His people.
  • Give thanks for Jesus Christ who gives us the right to pray through His High Priesthood.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others reflect on answered prayer.
