Memorisation Monday
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
Mark 8:36
It’s time to finish what we started in Mark’s gospel. Jesus (in the verses preceding this one) has just told His followers that to be His disciple you must take up your cross. To deny your sinful and worldly desires and live for Jesus’ desires instead.
But why would you do such a thing? Jesus reminds us of the stakes. To reject Jesus and to choose the things of this world is to forfeit your soul. Wow. It’s to choose momentary pleasures of the kingdom of this world (measured in years) for the eternal pleasures of God’s Kingdom (that cannot be measured).
Let’s memorise this today that we would be wise and keep following Jesus.

- Say it once before you go to sleep.
- Say it once more when you wake up.
Pray:
- Praise the Father that He offers us such a generous salvation.
- Give thanks for Jesus who saves our souls.
- Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others be wise with worldly possessions.
