The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.

Psalm 19:1-4

We live in a beautiful part of the world. Every time I walk down to the beach and see the waves, I feel like God is putting on a show. Whether you live on the coast or inland, you only have to look up at night to see God's glory.

It's really worth reflecting on. God could have made a purely functional world. Food nourishes tastelessly. Sun shines in black and white. Three types of animal - a bird, a fish and a mammal.

But that's not our world.

We live in a land of colour with eyes that can take in more than any technology we can design. We can taste sweet, sour, salty, bitter and savoury (or umami). There are microscopic organisms and stars larger than we can comprehend. And it still all works.

Let's give thanks today for the kindness and beauty of God that we get to enjoy in creation.

For Today:
  • Do you give thanks for the beauty in the world?
  • Spend some time looking at something beautiful.
  • Give thanks to God today for His amazing world and your ability to enjoy it.

Pray:
  • Praise the Father for His beauty and His grace.
  • Give thanks for Jesus Christ who shows us the beauty of God in His life, death & resurrection.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others be thankful for the world we enjoy.
