TGIF

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.

James 3:13

Last Friday we reflected on the many people who have come before us who encourage us in our faith through their perseverance.

I wrote this blog post the day after the news of Tim Keller’s death. There have been many social media posts and articles discussing how loved he was and how so many people have been impacted by his ministry.

I thought I would take this Friday to share some of his best quotes with you that you might be encouraged by this man who God gave great wisdom.

“To be loved but not known is superficial. To be known but not loved is our nightmare. Only Jesus knows us to the bottom and loves us to the sky.”
“You don’t fall into love. You commit to it. Love says, ‘I will be there no matter what.’”

“Tolerance isn’t about not having beliefs. It’s about how your beliefs lead you to treat people who disagree with you.”

“The gospel says you are simultaneously more sinful and flawed than you ever dared believe, yet more loved and accepted than you ever dared hope.”

“God will either give us what we ask or give us what we would have asked if we knew everything he knows.”

For Today:
  • Have you ever read a book by Tim Keller?
  • Who is a wise Christian that you read/listen to? Why?
  • Give thanks for Tim Keller and other wise Christians who have gone to be with the Lord.

Pray:
  • Praise the Father that He is the source of all wisdom and gives it freely to His people.
  • Give thanks for Christ who teaches us in all wisdom.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others seek His wisdom in the Scriptures and in His people.
