Whom have I in heaven but you?
    And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

    but God is the strength of my heart
    and my portion forever.

Psalm 73:25-26

Fresh into the new year, I can’t think of a better time to fix our eyes and hearts on Jesus.

Ask yourself, what good is our life without Him? Who do we have if we don’t have Him? Well, through the overflowing grace and love of God, the answer is that He is ours to keep.

Just take this in for a second: “my portion forever”. This is our inheritance. We have been given everything in Jesus - His Kingdom, His Heart - so why wouldn't we desire nothing but Him?

Imagine waking up each morning this year with the burning desire to serve and give your life to Jesus. If every moment you yearned for nothing but Him. How amazing would this be? 

Let’s pray that Jesus would overpower the world's lunge to capture our heart’s affections, which only fail us in the end. Ask for Jesus to be your heart’s greatest treasure and desire.


For Today:

• Read this Psalm aloud 5 times and remind yourself that Jesus is your ultimate desire.
• Make an intentional effort today to show kindness to someone as a reflection of Jesus’ love.
• Choose one area to prioritize Jesus over worldly desires today.

Pray:

• Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help us desire nothing but Jesus in our hearts
• Give thanks for Jesus who gave His life so we may inherit His portion forever
• Ask God for wisdom to see that our earthly desires ultimately fail us
