One of the sad shifts in our culture has been a slide towards increasing bitterness. There’s bitterness between generations - Boomers are responsible for the housing crisis or Millennials don’t want to work. There’s a bitterness racially - particularly towards white people (not saying it’s without cause). There is bitterness towards governments and of course towards God.
And I don’t know about you but I don’t love it. I don’t love being around bitter people.
How refreshing are people who are thankful. People who are thankful for whatever they have, even if it’s not much. In fact, I think these are the most enjoyable people to be around - those who overflow with thankfulness even if they don’t have what others do.
Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing, a good thing, to be a Church that was overflowing with thanksgiving? And don’t we just have so much reason to be that people? In Jesus, we have received grace upon grace. We have so much and so much to look forward to.
Let’s be a people that overflow with thankfulness.
