He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

Psalm 40:2

How do you feel about change? To be honest, I don’t mind it. Although, if I’m being honest, I don’t mind it when I’m the one bringing the change. For many, change is one of your least favorite things.

And the world is changing. Always changing. Life is changing. Always changing. More rapidly than ever before. Our work changes. Our bodies change. Our relationships change.

But one thing that never changes is our God. His love, His strength, His purposes are like a rock that gives us a firm place to stand. Unlike any others in this world, we have an anchor for our lives that is unshakeable.

So when life changes as it inevitably will, be reminded of the God who has set your feet upon Him and on His Son Jesus. You have a firm place to stand. Give thanks for that today.

• Find gladness in your feet set on the rock that is God.

Pray:

• Praise the Father for His unchanging love, strength and purpose.
• Give thanks for Jesus who lifts us out of the slimy pit of sin and death.
• Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others stand firm on His rock.
