A Kingdom Beyond Price

44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Matthew 13:44-45

Some things are worth sacrificing for and people do. Think about family. It’s remarkable what people will do for the sake of their families. My Italian grandfather left his village of 100 people to travel across the world to Australia and work in a Kingswood factory.

Many of you will sacrifice time and energy to work overtime or extra shifts in order to pay for a house or a holiday. Now sometimes, this turns out to be a mistake. How devastating when you get non-stop rain or when the house you sacrificed for turns out to have terrible neighbours.

I rekon one of the questions Christian often ask themselves is. Is it all worth it? Is it worth the Sunday afternoons in a basketball court? Is it worth the money you gave so that the Kingdom might grow? Is it worth the pain of fighting sin?

Jesus says His Kingdom is worth every sacrifice. And I rekon you can know that it is. Why? Firstly, because it’s got God in it. What price can you put on knowing God? On having Him with you? How much would you pray for the presence of God with you always?

Secondly, because it’s eternal. Everything you sacrifice for on this earth will ultimately end or fall apart. Your house will not last. Your holiday will not last.

Jesus Kingdom - will stay perfect forever. How much would you give up to gain… everything?

Today:
  • What has Jesus’ Kingdom cost you?
  • What are you most thankful for in the Kingdom of God?
  • Reflect on why Jesus’ Kingdom is worth your sacrifices?

Pray:
  • Praise the Father for His Kingdom
  • Give thanks for the Son who bought our ticket to the Kingdom with His blood.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others sacrifice with joy in light of the Kingdom
