Joy for Prayer Answered

12 When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. 13 Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door. 14 When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”

Acts 12:12–14

On Tuesday, we saw the first part of this story. How the Church earnestly prayed for Peter’s safe delivery from Herod’s prison. Now, we see the result of answered prayer as Peter turns up even as the Church continues to earnestly pray. See Rhoda’s response?

Have you ever had prayers answered? I have. And so much more than I think. One of the things I need to get better at is reflecting back on my prayers and seeing how God has answered them.

But when I do stop to think. It really is astounding how often God has answered my prayers. Or even answered them in a better way than I asked. Like when we first started Village. We prayed for a venue to meet in.

It looked like we might have a space, it was another Church’s building but it was cheap and it could work. However, after first saying yes, the Church eventually said no to having us. What’s going on God? We prayed for that space!

Well, God had something better in mind. A week later, the PCYC said yes to us meeting there on a Sunday. And wow, it’s been the best answer to prayer ever.

God doesn’t promise to answer all our prayers. But he does answer prayer and he does answer our deepest prayers in Jesus.

Today:
  • Has God answered one of your prayers recently?
  • Do you take time to reflect on how God might have answered your prayers?
  • Consider writing down what you have been praying for.

Pray:
  • Praise the Father for his many answers to your prayers
  • Give thanks that in Jesus, your deepest prayers have been answered.
  • Ask God for His Holy Spirit to help you and others give thanks for answered prayers.
