Joy in hardship

Paul is in prison, everything seems to be going wrong - and yet he is excited that God's name is being glorified. He's even joyful?! Why don't we have this kind of response when things are hard for us? Is it because the goals/aims of our life are different to Paul's? In this passage God will show us how we too can have joy no matter what!
